It was an artistic movement founded in England at the end of the 19th century, bringing together painters, sculptors, architects and craftsmen in the thought of creating applied art. They believed that useful and functional art should be created, but without losing its aesthetic value. The most important center of this movement was Scottish Glasgow where the interior designer and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh operated. Characteristic of his designs are raw, geometric shapes, slim proportions and a small amount of decorations.
